Parents’ Night Out: Social Climbers at Gryphon Theatre
Fancy a parent night out?
We’re having an informal WDSA parent catch-up on Friday 25 September and heading along to see Social Climbers, featuring our very own committee secretary Jess in the cast!
Social Climbers is a Roger Hall comedy about a group of women who go bushwalking and end up trapped together in a hut for three days. 😂
The show starts at 7.30pm. We’ll meet at Golding’s at 6pm (14 Leeds Street) beforehand for a drink and catch-up, then head to the theatre (22 Ghuznee Street) together.
It’s just a relaxed night out and a chance to catch up with other WDSA parents and support Jess.
If you’d like to come, let us know in the chat, and book your ticket here - https://www.iticket.co.nz/events/2026/sep/stagecraft-social-climbers
Hope to see you there!

AGM- '“It takes a village” – Parents Catch Up
We would love to invite you to join us for an evening of connection with other families in our community 💜🤝
It’s a great opportunity to gather together and help shape the kinds of events and support that will benefit our families in the year ahead 🌱✨ We will also have dessert together! 🍰
Guest speaker: Libby 🌟, sharing her World Down Syndrome Day conference talk “It Takes a Village – Belonging is a Responsibility” and her whānau's journey 💛
The evening will also include our Annual General Meeting (AGM) — a short and important part of the night where we reflect on the past year and look ahead together 📊
What happens at the AGM?
As a registered charity, we hold an AGM each year and need at least 10 WDSA members present 🙌 During this time we’ll briefly:
• Share what the WDSA has been doing over the past year
• Review our finances (what has come in and what has been spent) 💰
• Elect at least six committee members for the coming year
Our committee includes a Coordinator, Treasurer, Secretary, and at least three additional members. These roles are essential for us to continue operating as a charity 💪 The commitment is manageable, with two committee meetings per term held via Zoom 💻
We need you to help shape how the future looks for us as a community, so we’d love to have you there 💜
Also, if you’re curious about finding out how you could be involved as a committee member feel free to contact susan@wdsa.co.nz 📩 We are needing more people to be involved at this level.
We’ll finish the evening with dessert and coffee ☕🍰 it’s a great chance to relax, chat, and connect 😊
