Celebrating achievement across the Down syndrome community

Every year, the New Zealand Down Syndrome Association's National Achievement Awards recognise and celebrate the contributions, achievements and successes of people with Down syndrome from across Aotearoa.

The awards shine a light on individuals who are making a difference in their schools, workplaces, communities, sporting clubs, the arts and everyday life. They are an opportunity to celebrate personal achievements, acknowledge the support of whānau and communities, and recognise the many ways people with Down syndrome enrich our society.

This year's awards will be held at Government House in Wellington on Friday 23 October 2026, hosted by Her Excellency the Governor-General.

Nominations have now closed, and we congratulate everyone who has been nominated. We look forward to celebrating alongside families and friends from around the country and wish all nominees the very best for the awards.

The National Achievement Awards are a reminder that achievement looks different for everyone. Whether it's learning a new skill, reaching a personal goal, succeeding at school or work, contributing to your community, or simply showing determination in everyday life, every achievement deserves to be recognised and celebrated.

We'll share more information about tickets and how to attend as soon as it's available.
